Recently, we received the awesome opportunity to interview western artist and influencer Mz Leday, who is based in Houston, Texas. She has garnered over 3 million online views, and has made quite the impact on the Country and Trail Ride scene. Mz Leday decided to pursue music after going viral! Get into it! Check her out!
Where are you from?
I am from Houston Texas.
What led you on a journey of pursuing music?
The opportunity for music presented itself after I went viral on tiktok during the pandemic. I then decided to give music a try.
What was the inspiration behind your songs, “BARNYARD BADDIES” and “COWGIRL” (SHEMIX)?
Cowgirl Shemix was inspired by my everyday lifestyle as a country girl and western influencer. Cowgirl shemix is actually a remake to an original song called “cowgirl” by soul collective. Barnyard Baddies is a fun song created to inspire all country girls to embrace their inner baddie! Boost self esteem and be confident in being different.
How would you describe your sound?
Being the first black female Country Rap Artist, I would describe my style as authentically unique. Country music with hip hop flavor.
What are some challenges you have faced, if any while trying to build your music career, and how did you overcome?
The hardest part of this journey has been finding a balance between being a mother, a western influencer, and managing several businesses all while pursuing a music career. To overcome any challenge, you must first KEEP GOING. Time management, organization and self care will continue to be a daily obstacle.
What are some goals you hope to accomplish for yourself this year?
A few of my goals for this year are:
1. Solidify my place in the country music industry.
2. Continue to inspire other Barnyard Baddies to be themselves unapologetically.
3. Be a positive representation and bring more awareness to “BLACK COUNTRY”.
